using a printer

I have just started to use Mepis Linux, and am (cautiously) exploring. Feeling my way, so to speak. So far, I have been using the CD to boot up, and have been trying to find out about the various options.

One thing is puzzling. I want to print the Manual (or at least parts of it) before downloading Mepis to my hard drive. But how do I connect my printer so that I can do this? I can hardly print it from Windows, because the manual is not there, but the printer does not work from the CD. Any help, please?

If it is a live CD, then you can print it after configuring the driver modules. Otherwise, an install cd will not load the driver modules for your printer and you will need to 'modprobe <module>' first. If it is a postscript printer, then it may be easy.

Have you seen

Wink printers

Thanks for the quick reply. Your steer to the documentation I needed was great, and I can print from there (to start with).
