Username and Password?

Hi, just installed SUSE 12.1 on my laptop which also has Windows 7 on it. Would love to try SUSE out but it keeps asking for a username and password although I never put one in at installation. Can't even get passed log in screen

at the end of the installation it didn't ask you for a root password? root/Administrator is usually at the very end of the installation and your also prompted to setup other user accounts, if you didn't get to this process or skipped it somehow you will probably need to reinstall it.

You probably do NOT need to re-install.

First, try booting into single-user mode. When the grub menu appears, you can edit the kernel command to add "single" at the end. On many systems, this gets you into a root shell with no password

Another method involves booting from live CD and editing the /etc/passwd file to remove the first "x" in the entry for root.

You sure about that? I've installed OpenSUSE 12.1 on three different machines in the last couple of weeks, it definitely asks you for your username and password during installation.

Look here (installing from CD)
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Live_CD_i...ation_for_11.4
or here (installing from DVD)
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:DVD_installation_for_11.4
and creating a user is step 4. How did you get past that?
