User rights and SFTP

Hello All,

I am set up a Centos7 system to handle tftp and sftp. I have them both working, but I would like to have an account tftp or another account that tftp and account has full access to the tftp directory. Also I would like that account to have the sftp login directory as the tftp so that I can keep all files and folders with access and in one directory. I would like the account to not have login priv.

How can I accomplish this? I am using vsftpd for sftp.

vsftpd can NOT be used for sftp. It is used for ftp (insecure) or ftps (ftp over SSL) but they are not the same thing as sftp. The "vs" in "vsftpd" stands for "Very Secure".

sftp is native to Linux and uses ssh key security rather than SSL so is completely different from ftps.

There are ways to do logins via sftp and have it allow for sudo switch to another user.

I haven't worked with tftp in quite a while and never did use it the way you're asking so couldn't tell you how to make it talk to sftp, ftp or ftps.

Part of the sentence missing, you probably mean something like "stands for Very Secure".

To be exact, vsftpd is a "standard FTP" server (daemon) with secure transfer mode, BUT
it hasn't been updated anymore in more then 3 years and most likely is dead.

It _is_ a complete different server from a sftp one, which is served by a ssh daemon
(either internal or through a subsystem).

What would I use to setup a SFTP Server for my secure transfers that is available and updated?

You use the existing SSH server you already have installed. That provides SSH, SFTP, and SCP.
