Unhappy user profile not being saved after logout

I am not able to save my 'users' profile that I set up for my "users" group. I am running REHLAE 5.2 (redhat5.2 server)I do not have internet connection available to these machines. They are only allowed to see eachother (4 total). Please help, some of my users do not know how to search for applications beyond their desktops. Janet
Sorry, cannot tag while I am working from home.

Have you checked all of the home directory permissions?

I'd start by going in to the home of the offending user and making sure the files and directories are owned by the user (chown). If this doesn't cure, chmod all to 777 in that directory and see if that helps, if it does, there is a file with the wrong permissions on it somewhere.
