useful tips for future in linux
Hi all,
I have recently joined a prominent company working on linux.So please suggest me what are the main things in linux on which i should concentrate on more so that in future that are worthy for me thanks |
what role are you doing now, what role do you want to do, how does the company use Linux and how will they plan to use it? Otherwise you'll get many many general answers and none will be useful to you.

I am a software developer in kernel development but i am quite new to it
so as i can give myself a direction now and can put myself in a commanding position if i choose right technology. That's why i am asking this . Quote:

okay i would like to see a system useful for the *buntu systems where when you plug in a device and your connected to the internet it will prompt to install restricted kernel mods to get that device to work
for example i plug in a tv tuner and it needs a patch to work a prompt pops up and *buntu asks me if i want the latest patch.... |
Dear i am not a experience developer on linux that's why i am trying to point out the things which are more important in future like network and socket development or library development or kernel development or else
So suggest me which field is more useful. Quote:

well the least you could try for would be to continue to add support to new devices in the kernel like network cards and such i think there is allot to be done with gig-e cards
plus there is no need for the annoyed tone here you asked a vague question expect an out-there answer |
Ashok;
What is missing here is that you don't say what your employer wants you to do. Equally important, you don't say what YOU want to do. For example, why did you join the company? What does the company do? Also, why not tell us more about your experience and skills? You say that you are not an experienced developer, but you also imply that you have been employed in kernel development. That doesn't really add up. |
