Use VisTablet Penpad with Gimp and other Linux apps

VisTablet Penpad
OpenSuse 12

I did a quick search for "Vistablet" in titles and entire posts on LQ and found no posts. Maybe another term has answers? I also clicked "find similar threads" before submitting.

How do I get this to work with Linux? I think that Linux recognizes it, and maybe the wacom driver has loaded it? But there is no response to it in Gimp...only the mouse works. The Vistablet Penpad is a USB device.
