use home linux server as gateway

Hi Guys,

I work in a company that is under VPN, and has a lot of restrictons.
Thing is i sometimes have some spare time, and with the new Diablo out, i was thinking of playing a bit in my spare time at work, but i cant.
I also have a fedora server back at home, on which i can connect via putty or winscp, NXClient, etc.
My question is, can i use my home server to act like a proxy or some kind of a gateway? So maybe i can install some package so that i could maybe use proxifier to first connect to my home server, and then to battle.net?

Any documentation or advises will be welcome.

Thanks,
Marius

I wouldn't suggest you go above your employer restrictions. Remember he is the one paying for your time.
My two cents

Good luck to you!

i think what you are looking for is ssh tunnel to your home server and encapsulate game's traffic. Since you mention connecting with putty this should possible. Not knowing specific network demands of Diablo (long since gave up on windows games) i'd guess your connection will be horribly laggy. Adding extra network hops via home ADSL and ssh encryption will add lots of ping delay.

Ask your employer to open the firewall to battlenet for you.

The subject of the thread is almost certainly in violation of your employment agreement,
and for this reason this thread is closed.
