usbdevfs not supported by kernel (2.6.11)

Ok, ive recompiled 2.6.11 a couple times now, and have got everything figured out except this. when i reboot, rhgb goes into detail mode, showing theres been a failure... under the first terminal it shows everything that was hidden by the "quiet" boot command.

After the uhci module loads, i get the error usbdevfs not supported by kernel.

after lookin this up on google, i added the following line to fstab

none /proc/bus/usb usbfs defaults 0 0

nothing changed...

what am I doing wrong? do have to have /dev enabled?

warnng -- just guessing
i bet you need to find in the boot scripts where the call to create usbdevfs is and change it to
usbfs

you profile says fedora cap
so try editing
/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit

line 215 or so

might want to take the line out of fstab but i don't know
so many different types of init scripts -- so little understanding

In total there were 4 instances of usbdevfs in rc.sysinit. i changed them all to usbfs and took the line out of fstab, and all is well.

Thank you

This didn't happen in kernel-2.6.6... i compiled kernel-2.6.11.2 as well and got the same problem as you guys...

Well, thanks for the neat info!

Cheers,
