USB to HDMI adapter

Does anyone know of a USB to HDMI adapter for Linux? Amazon.com only seems to have them for Windows and Mac. Or would they work with Linux also? None of my old laptops have an HDMI port. I'd like to know before I spend the money for one. Thanks much for any help you can give me! -Ed

I haven't had any need to text any such thing, but, as it functions on a hardware level, if it works for other OS's, it should work for Linux, but "should" can be a very big word.

Will Try VGA

Since USB external HDMI adapters are too expensive for me at this time, I'll order a VGA cable and hope Linux will provide the drivers. :) -Ed

We use these at work. They don't require drivers, should be seen as essentially a USB video card. That said, they're flaky as anything, and we're constantly having issues with those machines.

Many oldish laptops have a VGA socket for an external monitor.
They realised the puny screen on the laptop wasn't very good.

Google the key combo for switch vga from computer to screen.

I cut the cable cord long ago on my m/c shop entertainment center.

Do not make the mistake like I did buying one of these.

They are like tits on a bull. Useless because they cannot convert analog to digital input to TV.

You need one of these instead

Cheapest route is this cable.

and use external usb speakers or external amplifier like I do and run sound from headphone jack to input on the amplifier. With a headphone jack to rca jacks.
