USB problem on fedora core 3 (kernel 2.6.10-1.741)

I installed FC3 on a gateway 7200x pc which has 6 usb 2.0 ports. When I connect a device to one of the usb ports, I get a message saying:

or too short (expected 32, got 8)

Then later I get:
usb 2-1.1: hald timed out on ep0in

The device I am connecting was able to connect fine when running fc2 on a compaq deskpro/en which has the older usb 1.1 ports.

Hello DPenguin,

I belief that the Gateway 7200x is based on the new Intel 915 chipset, which is not fully supported. Probably this problem will be fixed with next Kernel update.

One of my clients runs Fedora Core 3 (Kernel 2.6.10-1.760) and has no problems with USB interfaces. So maybe upgrading to Kernel 2.6.10-1.760 will fix the problem
