usb mouse problems
I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 and everything worked fine. Then today i tried to boot ubuntu and when i went to log on my USB Mouse stopped working. I tried to move it to a another usb slot but no luck.

Have you looked in dmesg or /var/log/messages to see what all is going on?
|
Have you tested the mouse in another computer to make sure it didn't stop squeaking?
It would be a quick way to rule out mouse failure. I've found that, if I can easily rule out hardware problems (without, like, actually disassembling a computer), it's usually worth it, because no amount of messing with software will fix broken hardware. |
yeah i have tried it in another computer and it works. But i finally got it to work. I loaded Ubuntu in recovery and after that it started to work.

Cool.
I have add similar experiences in Windows, though not in Linux. I have found that loading Windows in safe mode (do they still have safe mode in Win7?) and then rebooting seems to blow a lot of dustbunnies out from under the bed. Glad it's working. |
