usb memory stick in slackware 10

Hi to all,

Although i can't say i'm a real nebbie, the truth is that i still haven't figured out how to get to mount my usb device.

I'm running Slackware 10 with and a custom compiled 2.4.26 kernel, obviously i have the usbcore.o, the usb-uhci.o and the usb-storage all set up and also the scsi stuff cause i need scsi emulation for my cdrw.

The output from my /proc/bus/usb/devices is:
T: Bus=02 Lev=00 Prnt=00 Port=00 Cnt=00 Dev#= 1 Spd=12 MxCh= 2
B: Alloc= 0/900 us ( 0%), #Int= 0, #Iso= 0
D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=09(hub ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=0000 ProdID=0000 Rev= 0.00
S: Product=USB UHCI Root Hub
S: SerialNumber=a000

E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=255ms

and i get the /proc/scsi/usb-storage-0/1 that has:

root@3DMaya:/proc/scsi/usb-storage-0# cat 1
Host scsi1: usb-storage
Vendor: Unknown
Product: Unknown
Serial Number: None
Protocol: Transparent SCSI
Transport: Bulk
GUID: 0c7600050000000000000000
Attached: Yes

but each time i try to mount through the "mount -t auto /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb i get "mount: /dev/sda1 is not a valid block device" i tried sda and sda1-sda15 and sdb-sdb15 and i always get the same problem, i'm mounting it as root so permissions is not the problem.

Sorry for the huge post, thanks in advance for all the help.

Dummy, dummy, dummy

Man, i really feel dummy, dummy, dummy.

I found out what the problem was, i was missing the the hard disk scsi support module the sd_mod.o, after compiling that one i can mount my device without a problem. it seems i didn't need any help but thanks to all anyway
