USB Audigy 2 NX - Please Help...

Greetings again,

I have a fairly fresh install of FC3 and I am trying to get my USB sound card working.

My system board has the AC97 onboard, and it is disabled in BIOS. (I couldnt get any sound from this device either)

The Audigy 2 NX is detected by linux but I can't get any sound out of it.

I am attempting to play an MP3 with XMMS 1.2.10

I has been playing with ALSAMIXER after reading so many posts on muting some channels, unmuting others, etc. but to no avail.

Anyone have any comments on this? I am not using any of the SPDIF outputs on the sound card at the moment, only the 1/4" front speakers output.

When I click 'PLAY' in XMMS it opens up the 'play files' window where it asks what media to play. I click on an MP3, and then 'ADD' or 'PLAY' and the window disappears, but nothing is loaded into XMMS......

??????

Ok, I'm making some progress now.

I loaded up GAIM and I got some sound... but it sounds AWEFULL.. Is that the quality of the recorded sounds in GAIM? or is there still some tweaking I need to do.

I tried something else, and I'm not sure what to do about this either,

I ran 'system-config-soundcard' from terminal and it prompted me for the root password. Entered it and then nothing happens.. I have heard about the mythical screen with a test audio button, and that is what I am trying to see... Do I have to be logged in as root for that to run?

This is the result of that query...

Quote:
[gfunk@myth ~]$ system-config-soundcard
/usr/share/system-config-soundcard/soundcard.py:151: DeprecationWarning: use gtk.ComboBox
self.primaryDeviceOptionMenu = gtk.OptionMenu()
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/system-config-soundcard/system-config-soundcard.py", line 46, in ?
app = soundcard.childWindow()
File "/usr/share/system-config-soundcard/soundcard.py", line 159, in __init__
self.primaryDeviceMenu.set_active(self.cardList.index(self.soundcardBackend.getDefaultCard()))
ValueError: list.index(x): x not in list
[gfunk@myth ~]$
Thanks!
