could somebody tell me what is the usage of network-script, resolv.conf, network

Try man resolv.conf in the terminal. Basically it points to the DNS servers which give you the obvious feature of name resolution on the net so that you don't have to type 64.179.4.146, instead you can enter a more friendly name www.linuxquestions.org.

The file network and the files in the network-scripts directory of /etc/sysconfig contain settings for environment variables. These get pulled in and used when the /etc/init.d/network script is run.
