Check out my tutorial I built to setup new sources for urpmi to grab from. This might help to get urpmi working a bit better:

Don't use the FTP's I used as those refer to cooker packages (which you shouldn't normally use). Find a mirror that has the packages for your release and use it.

Another install

OK, I will now study how to download from source, probably take a while.
Thanks for those links, they are very helpful.

I would like to ask another question in regard to installing software, as follows:
I ordered a CD of Word Perfect for Linux, could someone please give me step by step instructions on how to install this on my Mandrake 9.0, preferably using GUI?...Thanks.
