URghh!!! pulling out hair!
 

I just install RH 7.3 (Server install)

and when I boot it I get to a prompt that says:

dhcppc6 login:

and then I put in my username and password and I get this

[username@dhcpp6 username]$

What do I have to type to get to the OS?

Also another problem I am having is my screen keeps blinking for like a minute or two and then this comes up on the screen:

INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
:mad:

and then its ok and I can see, and then after 5 minutes it goes back to blinking crazy. Please any help would be a big help!

1. Bad news - this is the OS. Or a shell around it, at least. If you mean "where is the pretty GUI?" then you should install X windows and perhaps KDE or GNOME.

2. Take a look around in /var/log/ and see if you can see any error messages that might indicate what is having trouble starting on boot.

it must be some command to load the actual GUI. How do I look in /var/log

well if you did install xfree86, then startx will start the gui, if you specified a server install during the installation, by default it won't install X. X is not needed in most cases if you are setting up a server cause it only takes resources away.

but martbrooks is correct though, don't underestimate the command in linux, it is more powerful than the gui interface imho and is actually the heart of the OS. if it wasn't for the great *nix command, it would only be another pretty windows OS.
