Urgent help

I just bought a Toshiba Laptop Satellite L300 and for some reason i can not boot from my CD rom which has a Linux program. Can you please let me know if i need to download something or if i need to purchase somehting!!!

what do you have on the cd?
an iso file from a linux distribution?
Something else?
Did you set the bios to boot from CD?
Errormessages?
