URGENT- Having problems with tcl,ns2 in cygwin


I have installed the default packages & gcc, gcc-objc, gcc-g++, make,patch,xorg-x11-base, xorg-x11-devel packages,i.e. the packages required for ns2.Tclscripts can't be compiled,morover,uptil now(because i have just tried very simple & small programes) "puts" command is not working.It is saying- command not found.I have installed cygwin in c drive.I am opening the prompt from desktop shortkut & entering the directory by-
$ cd c:
$ cd cygwin
$ set a "5"
$ puts a
bash: puts: command not found

I hav not installed ns2,tcl/tk yet.Can any1 please help me???????It's urgent for my project........

You are using bash, not tcl. puts is not a bash command. You should use echo, or printf.
Now the best thing to do is to calm down, look at the problem and write a detailed post of what you want to achieve and how you want to do it, in a way that people can understand. Use complete words and sentences. What is your problem exactly, what did you expect and what did you get?
