Hi all,

Im facing problem in mounting USB pen drive in linux 9.

If i try to mount the drive using the command (created directory "usb" in /mnt)
'mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb'

it ll give the error tht fs type not supported by kernel.

Also tried to mount the drive using the command
'mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb'
but it is not happening.

Specs:
O/S RedHat 9.0
Kernel: 2.4.20
PC: Intel XEON

regards,

Nagesh Prabhu.

Can you post the exact errors, and the output of the command "cat /proc/scsi/scsi". Also, run the command "dmesg", and post the last few lines that correspond to your USB drive.

However, Redhat 9 is very old now, and I think that you will have better luck with its direct decendant, Fedora Core 5. It has better hardware support, a better selection of programs, and it is likely that your USB stick will just work (ie be automounted with no problems)
