Uploading fonts in Fedora Core 2
Hi there!!
I'm new to Linux and need to upload a font (Helvetica Narrow) to my Fedora Core 2. I have the Mac and PC versions, but I guess I'll have to convert it into a Linux one. Am I right?, if so, how can I do it? Thanks a lot and may the Force be with you Koldo |
For just yourself, put the font in the hidden folder .fonts in your home folder. To make it available to everyone, put it in /usr/share/fonts (you need to be root to write there). Then as root run fc-cache

Thanks Andy,
I'll pass that info onto to a technician friend, so that he can enjoy doing all the hard work :-) I'm afraid I've been using Linux for just a couple of days, and still don't feel confident enough. You know, the "what if I break it down" feeling Windows users tend to have ;-) I owe you a pint if you ever come to Manchester |
If you happen to use KDE at any point, it has a very good font installer that can be accessed in kcontrol (KDE control center).
