Upgrading VBox 2.0.2 on Fedora 9 to VBox 2.0.6
Warning: I'm somewhat new to the Linux OS environment; have been using Solaris since 2001.
I have installed VirtualBox 2.0.2, with Windows XP as guest, on a Fedora 9 OS. I have attempted to upgrade the installed VirtualBox to 2.0.6 with no success. The upgrade process did not report any errors and kernel modules would come up successfully during boots. I just could not activate or run the updated VirutalBox instance. Do I have to start from scratch with VBox 2.0.6 on Fedora 9? Thank you for any suggestions. |
There is probably some help here

Thank you, knudfl. I followed the referenced citation and attempted a similar approach, but was not quite successful. It was an exciting experience, though.
Anyway, I decided to try the VB 2.0.6 on Solaris 10 u6 as a fresh install and migrate my guest vm onto it. The approach worked with no problem. When I get an ample free time I will revisit the original attempt to satisfy my curiosity that I had not missed a step or two in the process. Thank you again for the reference. fcquayso |
