upgrading to qt3.2.3 w/ mandrake 9.2

Hello, i am running mandrake 9.2 and recently upgraded from QT3.1.2 to QT3.2.3 now all the fonts have changed and all the windows are all weird looking. i remember seening a forum post somwhere saying that you had to recompile some part of kde, but i cant find it now. Doesnt anyone have any experience with this?

Also, i had the plastik theme installed, and when i tired to recompile the theme it says that i must install kdelibs first...

Thanks for the help
Karl

"i remember seening a forum post somwhere saying that you had to recompile some part of kde,"

Kde and Qt are very version dependent. You have to upgrade the entire KDE and the entire Qt at the same time. So you need to upgrade your entire KDE to the vesion level that corresponds with QT 3.2.3.

When you have a mixture of KDE and/or Qt versions then you get weird errors in the appearance of your desktop and your application windows.

I don't mean to sound like an asshat or anything, but that really doesnt make any sense. Why would trolltech make software that isnt backward compatible with previous versions? And if this were the case KDE and all the QT based software wouldnt work at all. I am just having trouble getting the fonts, and the window borders to the way they were. I dont see how that justifies moving up 0.0.2 versions.

"that really doesnt make any sense. Why would trolltech make software that isnt backward compatible with previous versions?"

Because KDE and Trolltech work togather togather on version design. As far as they are concerned KDE and QT are an integrated complex of programs.

They don't change everything on every version release. You only have problems with the things they changed in the latest release.
