Upgrading to php 5 in Cent OS

I have a CentOS machine that is running php 4.3.2 and I need to upgrade to a later version, preferably 5.0. I'm a little new to the upgrade process for php. Do I need to compile the new version, or is there a simpler way (like yum) that would keep the same config options that currently exist for 4.3.2?

Thanks

If CentOS 4.X -- Use yum and add centosplus to the CentOS yum repo configuration then as root or equivalent; yum update php

If CentOS 3.X then download the source rpm from the CentOS 4.X (php-5.0.4-5.centos4.src.rpm) and do something like (as root or equivalent);

rpmbuild -rebuild php-5.0.4-5.centos4.src.rpm
