Upgrading RH8, Error mounting device

I found some postings on but no resolutions.
I run the graphical upgrade from RH 8 to 9 and get:
"Error mounting device sda3 as /boot: Invalid argument"
fstab says /boot is ext3 but Magic Partition says it's ext2.
If /boot is actually ext2 but fstab reports it as ext3 could this be a problem?

It could be. You could always try changing your fstab to ext2 and try again. Or you could just try to upgrade it from what one thinks is ext2 to ext3 ( tune2fs i think is the command, it's been a while ). I suggest fooling around with the fstab first. Otherwise, just wipe it all out and start fresh!
