Upgrading Red hat Linux 5.2 to 7.3 or higher

Hi,

Is it possible to upgrade my server running on red hat linux 5.2
to a higher version say 7.3 or higher ?
Can you recommend a website that tackle such issue.

Thanks who maybe you are.
God bless.

Hi,

Yes, it's pretty straightforward to do that.

Have a look at the redhat webpages. Upgrading to version 9 is covered on this one.

Hi jkobrien,

I did go to the red hat website that you mention, but it says
that the previous version should be 6.2 or higher.
But anyway thanks for the effort, ill be checking the red
hat site further if they feature upgrade from 5.2 to higher.

Again thanks.

Hi,

With the new Fedora and Red Hat Enterprise projects, I doubt that they will do that.

You could upgrade to 6.2 first and then upgrade again to 9, but that would be a bit tedious.

It's probably worth thinking about a fresh install. You can do that without having to wipe your entire system, though it's always sensible to back-up what's important.
