Upgrades Mess Things Up?

I am running Mepis 2004.3 on a garden variety Gateway PC with a 40GB hard drive and 512MB DDR SDRAM.

Mepis picked up the integrated sound and video with no problem and everything seems to be working well.

Sooooo my question is about upgrades. Are they necessary? Is there much of a chance that upgrading might mess something up? I have done a Google search and some forum searches and am still not sure. I know that I want to keep security up to date and I have no problem with regular upgrades. I have updated with apt-get and upgraded for a few weeks with no problems.

I would appreciate some opinions from the members of this forum please.

Thank you very much. zoey

Hello Zoey,

I upgrade my Fedora Core 2 always, I never had any problems.

But for most Fedora upgrade's it is adviced to have a speedy internet connection.

With kind regards,
