Upgraded to KDE 3.4 from 3.2 - desktop_locker and amarok now broken...
Hi, I'm using Novell Linux Desktop (which Ibelieve is based on SuSE 9.1) and upgraded my KDE to 3.4 from SuSE's own supplementary 9.1 update site.
It all went well with just a few conflicts to be resolved in YAST and as far as I can see only two things are failing. 1. Lock Session now produces a blank screen (as usual) but when I move the mouse instead of getting the password greeting I get a KDE Crash handler saying KDesktop Locker crashed caused signal 11. Here's a part of the trace Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1". [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] [New Thread 1096541664 (LWP 6440)] [KCrash handler] #7 0x418ad5a9 in KClassicGreeter::KClassicGreeter () from /opt/kde3/lib/kde3/kgreet_classic.so 2. Amarok got updated in my KDE upgrade but when I run amarokapp now I get linux:/opt/kde3/bin # linux:/opt/kde3/bin # ./amarokapp ./amarokapp: error while loading shared libraries: ./amarokapp: undefined symbol: _ZTIN6TagLib5ID3v113StringHandlerE linux:/opt/kde3/bin # I'm looking for general pointers to how to troubleshoot these issues. Thanks |
amarok depends on some other tools: check here for links and the complete thing:
http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-...=/Sound/amarok I'm guessing TagLib is out of date no idea on the locker issue - sorry |
You may want to insall the latest amarok release, maybe it will resolve your problems.

Yeah amarok gets updated a bit, so getting the latest is always a good idea.

Thanks for all the pointers but it seems the latest amarok wants a whole load of stuff that NLD doesn't support....that's ok...I can live (just) without it.
The lock session bug is killin' me tho. Would downloading the latest xlockmore help in this repsect..? I'm not sure if xlockmore has anything to do with klocker and I cannot find anything on klocker as a package anywhere. Sicky |
