Upgraded from Suse 11.0 to 11.1 and cannot log on
Hi,
I have just tried to upgrade Suse 11.0 to 11.1, by doing this: "Just add the 11.1 REPOSITORIES in ‘YaST > Software Repositories’, select ‘Add > Specify URL’, add the line: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.1/repo/oss Then do absolutely the same but use this line, which is for the NON-OSS software: http://download.opensuse.org/distrib...1/repo/non-oss So, you have added the new repository sources, now just execute the next command in terminal: sudo zypper dist-upgrade" The computer will start, but when it gets to the logon screen and I put in my password, the screen goes blank and justs returns to the logon screen again. I have tried loging on as Root, with the same response, but if I put on the root password for my username or my user password for root, it tells me I have used an incorrect password?? I am no expert, so I would appreciate not too technical answers. Thanks, Paul |
additional question
And when I try a consol log on it presents me with "Linux-902a login"?
Do you know what ths means? Thanks, Paul |
Did you do it the right way?
You might look at these posts. There the critical command step seems different from the command you used. What is the reason you don't use a CD/DVD installation/upgrade or a net installation? Is just because it should possible? http://en.opensuse.org/Upgrade http://pvdm.xs4all.nl/wiki/index.php...ing_zypper_dup http://forums.opensuse.org/install-b...ia-zypper.html |
