upgrade to 11:10 problem
 

I recently attempted to upgrade from 11:04 to 11:10 using download manager in Ubuntu. The upgrade seemed to go well but on completion I found that I couldn't open Ubuntu (my laptop is dual booted with W7) and viewed the following on screen "waiting for networking configuration" after a while I then view "waiting 60 seconds more for network configuration" then the screen goes blank.
Can anyone help with this problem? (bearing in mind my limited knowledge of Linux/Ubuntu)

What you are describing sounds very similar to a known bug in 11.10. There is a work-a-round but it involves changing a file. Having a look at...

thank u Curtisa for your reply. What you have advised me to look at appears to my non technical eyes like a foreign language. I haven't got a clue about where to even start. Sorry if I appear negative but all I want to do is switch on and start work but Ubuntu baffles me. I think I will just remove it (another marathon I suppose) and return to Windows. Never mind I have tried Linux and when it worked it was great.
