Hi All,

I am new to Linux/Unix.

I want to set up UNIX box. What variables i need to configure. Also I need information regarding default variables and where they are defined ?

Thanks in Advance.

Linux is NOT Unix. It was based on Minix. Linux is Unix LIKE.

Do you want to set up Unix or Linux?

What have you done to achieve this so far?

This is nitpicking to such an extent, it actually hurts. The guy makes his first post and you start off with this?!

Anyway, saketlj, please be specific - tell us what you're trying to achieve, what you've done so far and where you are struggling.

I agree about the nitpicking.
If you are really that new, then get a box that will be running only eg Linux and take default install.
You can customise it (if reqd) after install.

What do you want to use the box for?
Do you know there are many variations (aka distributions aka distros) of Linux?
