Updating GeForce Go 6800 Driver
I am currently using SuSE 9.3 and I am trying to update my graphics driver to see if I can fix some fuzziness that seems to be apparent in all my graphics in Linux, most notably the fonts. I am running on a Dell Inspiron 9300, with a 256mb GeForce Go 6800. I have looked at the drivers on NVidia's website and I see that they had some nice instructions on how to go about updating drivers for SuSE distro's which was quite nice of them to do.
When I go into YOU, select "Installable and Installed Patches," there is nothing pertaining to "Download NVIDIA(r) Graphics Driver" from the patch list. I have searched for it as well and cannot seem to find it. I was hoping to avoid recompiling the nvidia kernal module but its all there for me so I guess I could have at it and hope my system does not break down. Anyone got any ideas? PS: I have tried doing the TTF fonts and the FreeType fonts to fix the fuzzy font problem and that seems to make things worse. Anti-Aliasing is enabled and when disable it, it also makes things a little worse. |
The quote below is one of the thing that was sent too me when I was trying SuSE9.3 Pro about how to get some of the update/install "things" working. It doesn't cover the Nvidia driver - which can of course be installed if you read the "readme" at the nvidia site, but theres definitley a way of doing that in YaST - I just can't remember how I did it since the SuSE was deposed by the Gentoo!

Nope, sorry, the bit I was looking for must have been mailed to me directly.
So, have you looked in the SuSE forum here at LQ ? Failing that what about the "proper" SuSE forums you'd have to register, but in my book, any linux support/help is good, so give 'em both a try. regards John |
