updatedb takes forever to complete

Even ctrl+ c ctrl+d don't work and I have to close the terminal to stop the neverending updatedb.I am using FC3.

hi there,

but why you run upodatedb in foreground?
i would suggest a cron or starting with "&". with that you can run it and produce something else.
depending on how full is your disk can take a while indeed...

On my AMD64 3200+, with a gig of RAM and a SATA drive, it takes me a good 5 minutes to run a fresh updatedb, just let it ride!
