Updated version of Mandriva in each 1st-time installation.
Is it possible to get the updates with the installation? I hope that it'll be so in the future.
Is it possible to give users more to say when they install Mandriva for the first time? I mean........so they can choose what programs to install and not. Like: 1. Web-browser of choice from a Dropdown-list. 2. Flash-handler of choise from a Dropdown-list. 3. Painting-program of choise from a Dropdown-list. 4. Filesharing-program of choise from a Dropdown-list. and so on. It creates space & comfort. Today........it takes more than one day to get to know every package and its function. It's just a suggestion. |
i'm afraid we at lq.org have no influence at all about how mandriva's installer works. if you want to make that suggestion, you would be best contacting the developers themselves.

I want all distros to stick with the basic paradigm now used: Provide a few basic choices of package groups, and leave the fine-tuning for after installation. I actually think the BEST solution would be to install a base system with NO choices and then, running from the base system, prompt the new user to choose specific SW (which would then install from the CD/DVD or from the net)
aliebel; If you want to retract a post, that's a poor way of doing it. If you were just looking for attention, then that's ALSO a poor way of doing it. |

I took the liberty to remove aliebel's contribution ...
it seemed somewhat out of place, and being 1.5 years after his last sensible post a weird way to re-enter the arena .... Cheers, Tink |
