Updated libX11 and python packages fail to update in RHEL5

I was assigned to do all the RHEL5 updates. All installed fine including the new kernel except for the updated libX11 and python packages. Does anyone have any suggestions relating to a fix for this?

Well, how can we? You don't tell us what happened, what error(s) you got, what you were doing, etc. Just saying "it didn't work", doesn't give us alot to go on.

Post details, and perhaps we can help. The best thing you can do in your case is to CALL REDHAT SUPPORT, since you're paying for it with your RHEL subscription.

Error message display

My apologies. The error message pops up just after the "resolving dependecies" process flash screen disappears is as follows:

Error downloading headers

Errors were encountered while downloading package headers

Details:

failed to retrieve repodata/filelists.xml.gz from rhel-x86_64-server-5

error was [Erno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not found

Thanks for any help. I do not have the Redhat ID and password and the person who does is out of the office for awhile. I'll get it eventually, but I thought posting this might be faster.

Well, it looks like whatever repository you're pointing to is not found (the same 404 error you'd get from a missing web page). If you've got RHEL support, though, it should be pointing to the RedHat Network.

Check the /etc/yum.repos.d directory, and check the file(s) in there to see what repos it's pointing to. Make sure you can hit them from a browser, and if not, see if you can figure out the link.

And again, if you're registered with RedHat, just call them. You can give them your customer information, and they'll help you.
