Update Manager fails to install in Hardy
 
Hardy keeps telling me that I have updates to install. Update Mgr install button freezes. No ID question appears.

When I open System Tools, I only see GDebi Package Installer, no Synaptic. Is that a problem?

open a terminal and type:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
