update-initramfs -u

Hi after running the command I listed in the subject: sudo update-initramfs -u Grub says unable to mount partition when I try to load up Ubuntu...

All I did was follow the instructions here: https://sourceforge.net/docman/displ...roup_id=187765

to install a new splash screen...

Please tell me how I can fix this?

Hmm... I can't really find any documentation on intramfs but from what I was able to scrounge it appears the -u option makes it update a currently existing initramfs... I don't think I had an initramfs though, and my /boot directory has had the menu.lst and the grub/ removed from it and replaced with some binary files called kernel images...

Well.. I'm sure someone knows what's wrong. Please tell me cause I'm using windows vista to type this and it sucks that I can't use my ubuntu system...
