Update GNOME

How, exactly, do i update GNOME? (:newbie: here :))

apt-get? red-carpet? source rpms? tarballs? So many choices... I guess it is up to you to pick your favorite way now.

I second Red Carpet. It's by far the easiest way to update ANYTHING.

fancypiper 02-13-2003 01:23 AM

Personally, I think it's hard to beat Gentoo's emerge for updating anything.

guitargeek 02-13-2003 08:59 AM

I haven't used Gentoo, but there's no way it can be easier than Red Carpet ;)

emerge -u gnome

Is that hard?

mhearn 02-13-2003 12:23 PM

johan: it depends how you installed it. If you're using redhat 8, then wait until 8.1 comes out, redhat release every 6 months roughly, that's by far the easiest. Otherwise red carpet or garnome will do the trick, but you have to be happy screwing around with your system to do that.

Yes. :p

In the SuSE 8.1 Pro, I make with Garnome :D

In the Slackware, I make with Dropline :D
