Unhappy Up2Date Problem??

I ran up2date on single packages alright, but when I ran it on the last 158 updates, as a group, it doesn't do anything. "The Testing package set/ Solving RPM inter-dependencies" window never moves as it did before. I even left it running from 3:00 pm to 7:30 am.

I hope someone can help. I'm a new Linux user and this is frustrating.

Is this on fedora? i had that problem, after install and updating everything (using yum) up2date wil lshow the packages that need updating but never do anythign with em, my solution was to just ignore it and use yum.

yum -y update

yum -y install

Thanks for responding, ethics. I'm using Fedora Core 3. I also tried using yum and it doesn't seem to work. I used chkconfig --level 35 yum on and then service yum start.
