unusual dvd problem

I've been trying to get my computer to play dvds using totem movie player but i get an error message that says "could not read from resource". This happens sometimes !

A newspaper dvd with morse on it fine! A commercial dvd carry on something , no joy.

I have installed the xtras, and this an unusual problem.
any ideas?

This is a reported bug for Jaunty on Launchpad. The fix is posted on the Launchpad bug report also:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...em/+bug/219062
It was classified as low priority, so it seems that it has not been fixed.
