Unofficial user poll to determine best non-newbie Linux distro
Hi there everybody,
Since there was no forum, especially for this divisive topic, I guess I will have to keep it in the newbie forum. Anyway I was looking for the best non-newbie Linux distro and I have been through all the web sites that say top 10 Linux distros for 2017 and all the variations in between, so I figured the best place to go is to a place where the fingers meet the keyboards, specifically the users. Something that doesn't lead me like a bull with a ring through the nose through the set up while having to listen to some faceless entity yammering at me incessantly. Start the free-for-all.
This is way off topic, but I think it's good for a laugh. I have a little Sony Blu-ray player that has all Internet streaming TV apps on it. I was downloading the firmware in order to see if I could adjust the max TTL, and I opened the .bin file only to find that it was in Japanese. Anybody know Japanese for hex conversion of 128?

In my experience, faceless entities yammering at you during installation is a Windows problem. I don't think even newbie-friendly Linuxen do that to you.
Anyway, what do you mean by best? Simplest internally? Most flexible? Stablest? Most up-to-date? Biggest repos? Biggest community? The best Linux is the one you like best.

Any other answer is just opinion. The 'best' linux distro is the one that has all the properties that are important to you.
Not sure anyone will bother to argue otherwise here. "What is the best linux" has been done to death at LQ and is usually pointless.
Plus we have yearly Polls to vote on 'favorites' where everyone comes out and votes for their current favorite.

Of course, for some the best Linux is the one they haven't actually found yet (and are unlikely to find because no such beast fits their rather unrealistic requirements, and even if it did they would never be happy).
