Unknown monitor after upgrading Ubuntu Mate from 17.10 to 18.04 LTS

Hi

Have been running Ubuntu Mate 17.10 for several months without issue. Just upgraded to 18.04LTS and now my monitor resolution is all wrong and under System > Preferences > Hardware> Display preferences my monitor is unknown.

The results of the following command lspci -nnk | grep -i vga -A3
Quote:
43:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GV100 [10de:1d81] (rev a1)
Subsystem: NVIDIA Corporation GV100 [TITAN V] [10de:1218]
Kernel driver in use: nvidia
Kernel modules: nvidiafb, nouveau, nvidia_390, nvidia_390_drm
How can I resolve this issue?

Are there no options for monitor refresh and screen resolution? Is this connected to a laptop external port? What kind of port is it? HDMI can be flakey. But you can use xrandr to manually set a resolution for the respective video output.

You might want to blacklist the nouveau driver.
