Uninstalling Nmap
 

I recently installed Nmap but for some reason it is not functional. I don't really know how to fix it or care to really, I want to try reinstalling it. But first I need to know how to uninstall. I tried rpm -e nmap, but it told me:

error: cannot get exclusive lock on /var/lib.rpm/Packages
error: cannot open Packages index using db3- Operation not permitted (1)
error: cannot open packages database in /var/lib/rpm

I dont know what this means or why it wont work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Run the command as root. Does it help?
