Uninstalling mandrake 8.2
Hi, I guess this is a newbie question since I couldn't really figure out how to do it. I'm no longer happy with mandrake 8.2. I just want to uninstall it, but I want to keep the partitions as is because I'll try a different distro
I thought to: 1. unmount the devices in the control center 2. use the rescue disk to restore the windows boot loader for now. when I select a new distribution I'll have it reformat those partitions. Please tell if there is a better way to do it. |
If you use lilo, you can remove lilo from the mbr with the command:
/sbin/lilo -u Upon reboot, you will go directly to the Microsoft OS. |
I like the tool Emergency Boot CD (EBCD) avaiable here:
http://www.t4k.org/~ebcd/ You can boot from the CD and replace the master boot record to boot directly into Windows. The CD also has a lot of other cool tools that sometimes come in handy. |
