uninstall sources

I usually use portage(a type of package manager for Gentoo). It's easy to install and unistall programs.

However, I sometimes install programs from source for various reasons. The installation is fine but how do I remove them?

Do I just delete all the files or is there more to it?

On some, but not all, I think you can run:
make uninstall
Check the README and INSTALL files in the source directory.

In case make uninstall is not an option you can generate a list of what it installed by "installing" what you want to remove using ./configure --prefix=/tmp/list then build then use cd /tmp/list && find .

Thank you.

Both of you answered my question perfectly.

I just tried make uninstall and it worked without a problem.
