uninstall kde 4 & gnome 2.20 and install kde 3.5 or gnome 1.x on suse 10.3

hi everyone,
i tried to search for this before i started the thread but it got complicated for a newbie like me. so here my own thread.

i am using opensuse 10.3, I have both Kde 4 and Gnome 2.20 installed. I want to remove them and downgrade Kde 3.5 or Gnome 1.X (? i am not sure about the name..just the older one). I want to this because of performance issues.

Can you help me out of this one?

Try to uninstall Gnome, then install older Gnome,if it's working, uninstall KDE,then install older KDE,or if you have enough space, don't uninstall KDE4,just install KDE,there will be two options in login manager,KDE and KDE4.Anyway, I think you will run into dependency hell,so best thing to do would be to install OpenSuse 10.3 original.

On openSUSE 10.3 KDE4 and KDE 3.5 can coexist. You can easily (and quite safely) install and unistall at will. Your openSUSE Disk contains a stable release for KDE 3.5.x

Just fire up your Yast and go to Software Management. When it has opened, select "Patterns" from the Filter drop down field in the top left corner. From there, select "KDE Desktop Environment" to install the standard KDE 3.5.x and/or GNOME.

If you used the openSUSE repositories to install KDE4 it might show up on that list and you can uninstall it from there as well.
