Uninstall dual Linspire/XP boot, but seperate drives.
I have XP (came with the 2-yr-old HP system that was given to me), and I tried to install Linspire on a separate drive, but now have a dual boot. I didn't know LILO installed on C: mbr, and put Linspire drive other computer, but no HP C: system boot without both drives. How do I safely remove LILO and keep XP (for now). Oh, I don't have the XP install disk, only System Restore on partition. No FIXMBR in Restore partition.
Thanks guys for the help. I found a beautiful freeware that help immensely called TestDisk. It can rebuild partitions, mbrs and mfts. It can find all these previous even if drive/part was formatted, but before any other destructive disk utilities .
Only for the strong at heart in some places, and reading the accompanying htmls is a must (all linked included w/ package) . SO, I hope this can be filed in your mental RPMs (or DEBs). Try it out and enjoy.
