Unetbootin won't launch on AMD64 machine
 

I'm trying to put gparted on usb using unetbootin.
I've made it executable when I double-click on it or right-click on it & select open nothing happens.
I even installed 32-bit libs thinking that was the problem, but, no dice it still won't launch.

I have 2 hdd's both with debian on them unetbootin will not launch & yes it's the linux version that I downloaded.

Unetbootin works on both Windows & my 32-bit machine.

I used the file manager & changed permissions to "Allow Executing File As program"
This I've done on my 32-bit machine also.
I've just checked(32-bit machine) to see if it was necessary so I unchecked the box & it won't execute, but after rechecking it does.

Os debian wheezy-AMD-64
specs in signature only 8 gigs ram.
Still not understanding why I can't launch unetbootin in this machine only.

Why did you download unetbootin rather than simply apt-get install unetbootin? What happens when you run unetbootin from the command line? Also, are you aware that unetbootin is usually run with root permissions and, if so, how did you set that up?

Never knew it was available thru repos. Just looked & saw it in synaptic. Also the unetbootin that you download is only an executable not installed.

At first I didn't realise it was there either -- I wonder whether, perhaps, it's a fairly recent addition to the Debian repos.

I'm going to try it from repos it will be a good feeling not to go to my Downloads folder for it.

I just installed(unetbootin) it & it works.

Glad to hear it. If I'm not sure whether something is in the repositories I tend to search here http://packages.debian.org/search I've added it as a search provider in Firefox also so it's even more convenient.

Or you can just use apt-cache to search for it:

True, there's always more than one way to find things out. :)

Usually I do check to see if a package is available just never thought to check for that 1.
