Unetbootin fails to copies files correctly

Hello,
The Unetbootin process basically skips past step 2, Extracting and Copying files. So, I am basically left with four files on my USB drive. I tried two separate USB drives, and they both get this error. One was formatted to FAT, the other was formatted to FAT32.
I initially tried to format a USB to NTFS, but it wouldn't load the bootloader onto the USB drive.
Can you help me with this problem?
I am trying to put Linux Mint 11 Gnome onto a USB drive.

Hello,
I am trying to dual boot Linux, so I need to be able to boot into Linux distro and install it from there.

Some details on what you did and what happened or did not happen.
Are you using windows 7 with the windows version of unetbootin?
Do you have a downloaded iso image of Linux Mint or are you downloading it through unetbootin?

I used to like those live usb's but also consider just a real install to the usb. Any live install has some issues that may not be easy to fix later.

Yes you can load the os in USB and then boot it as Live USB(use it live cd mode). after booting into live usb you can install it if you want to.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I found this while trying to troubleshoot the same issue. I had forgotten about a software restriction policy I had and unetbootin extracts .exe's to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\ and runs them from there, I had the whole of Temp blacklisted so no exe's could run. Disabled the policy temporarily and it did the copy of the files from the ISO.

So it could be the software restriction policy found in secpol.msc or some av that has a similar application whitelisting. Bear in mind if it is a SRP, and your computer is on a domain, you need to be on the domain for the change the SRP to take effect.
