Understanding sound and audio in Ubuntu
I have been a radio host since 1974. For years I have been using Macs as my platform of choice mainly because of the ease of use (GUI) and the fact that I can really get things done with a Mac.
I only recently started using Ubuntu because of it's extensibility an rich user community. One thing I am trying in Ubuntu is record Screencasts. I installed gtk-recordmydesktop and would like to use my Logitech USB headset. Can someone please help me out in setting up my headset so that it works properly. On the Mac and PC, it's pretty easy, plug the headset in, choose it from a list of options in preferences and that is it. I am hoping it is the same thing in Ubuntu. I am using Ubuntu 9.04 and the make of headest is a Logitech USB headet with no model number on it. Look forward to your replies!! Take care, Randy |

Try going to System>Administration>Services and checked the box next to Audio Settings Management (alsa-utils). Then go into System>Preferences>Sound and choose USB. Also, Google has quite a bit of info on this.
