I want to know how file permissions in Linux work. Since becoming member a few minutes ago, I have already been able to find a lot of information on this topic.
on file and folder permissions
Keep in mind most of the documentation is talking about using the terminal
" 777" or "644" or " 755"
but every GUI has handy check boxes for this
r-click on a folder and select the properties
from there you can set the permissions with a few mouse clicks
